Mathis Länzlinger
Drummer, percussionist, composer, educator and improviser.

I started playing drums at the age of 7 and have since developed a deep passion for groove, rhythm, and sound. My work spans jazz, pop, Latin, and funk, blending acoustic performance with electronic elements. As a composer, I create my own sound worlds, always seeking moments where structure and improvisation meet.

My musical education took me from the Talentschule Musik and the PreCollege Jazz program at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) to a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Jazz & Pop). I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Pedagogy at ZHdK, majoring in Jazz & World Music with a minor in Producing. Alongside my studies, I am active in various projects and teach children, teenagers, and adults in individual and ensemble settings.

In recognition of my work, I was awarded the Friedl-Wald Scholarship in 2025.

I also draw inspiration from nature. Whether climbing mountains, going on ski tours, or cycling, these experiences shape my creative process and influence my approach to sound and improvisation.

I live and work in Zurich, Switzerland, and am regularly active in national and international projects. My goal is to explore musical boundaries while preserving the emotional power of music and connecting people through rhythm and sound.
